Changing Of The Guards

I think one can be fairly certain that the current issue of Rolling Stone is going to be snapped up by young trendy people wanting to read about Barrack Obama (he is on the cover after all) as well as so-called “serious music fans” who’ll be curious to know why a 54-year-old rock legend is giving a teenage upstart the time of day.

What are we talking about? Well, the current issue (RS 1064) of America's favourite music mag features an article entitled The Schooling Of Nick Jonas in which the youngest JoBro talks to his ultimate music idol, Elvis Costello about everything from songwriting to the pitfalls of celebrity.

Yes, Costello fans, you read right. It seems that the veteran rocker has a lot of respect for 16-year-old Nick which is the main the reason he agreed to meet and talk with boy.

One bit of the article features Nick and Elvis talking about fans and fame – “As far as fans go: The only difficult thing is when they go in our house,” says Jonas. “That’s kind of odd for anybody, I think.” Costello sympathises, as he spent his early days as a pop sensation. “Around 1978, every single we released in England was a hit,” he says. “It was hard to take seriously when it was happening, because I just thought it was so absurd. I was suspicious of the success.”

Incidentally Nick has a Golden Retriever is called Elvis. But you already knew that, didn’t you?
